What are Headshots vs. Personal Brand Photographs?

Whooooo are you? ("Who, who, who, who?")
I’m dating myself…but this is a valid question. Perhaps it first came into your mind in 1980 when The Who jumped the pond and came to town, and you are still trying to answer that prompt that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend asked back then.
(You don’t have to be a big Who fan to recall the double-feature at the Varsity Theater with me: ‘Tommy’ and then ‘The Big Bus’.)
Are you wondering who you are, what is your look, style, message?
And of course these are ever-changing.
So my question for you really is, who are you TODAY?
Do you know? And do WE know who you are?
And are we able connect with you when we see you on Linkedin, on your website, in your expert articles? Hopefully we can see the REAL you.
When I was introduced to Joseph Zahaitis in a workshop in my studio, I was grateful to connect. Our conversation about his colorful dress shirt, design flair, travels, love for music, and Elvis-photo-lined sport coat said it all: This guy is a blast to be around!
To give you some further insight, later we planned his photography session, and our notes read:
- Casual, relaxed, smiling, confident
- Humble, sexy as hell (well I am aren’t I?? – LOL), casual (almost too much so – but that’s a good thing)
- Professional, funny, open, honest, “real”
I knew a smiley face cookie would be essential to match the joy in Joe’s shoot, and now I call him “Rolex Joe”, because he truly is a treasure.
Lasting fulfillment comes through connection. I think we can all agree that meaningful moments in our vocation, family life, community, and in everything we do happens by connecting.
So what is ‘connecting’, and how do we get to do more if it?
Connection for me is all about:
1. Next level ideas that come through sharing and spontaneity.
2. That spark of the imagination.
3. The joy of bantering and flow of intuition that leads to something new.
So maybe you need a headshot, a fresh up-to-date capture of your zest, style, and personal flair. Let’s do it!
Or better yet, how about planning a Personal Brand session where we get to see more YOU, allowing you to personalize your strategy and humanize your brand.
Are you approachable and relatable? Let’s see the real you.
How can you improve the way you connect?
