What's the Project?
The 40 Over 40 Project is a powerful portrait campaign designed to celebrate and honor women over the age of 40 through transformational photography experiences.
This project exists to challenge outdated beauty standards, elevate confidence, and shine a light on the stories of women who have reached a remarkable stage in life — women who are vibrant, wise, bold, and unapologetically themselves.

This campaign isn’t just about taking pretty pictures — it’s about visibility, voice, and validating experience. For too long, mainstream media has focused almost exclusively on youth. The 40 Over 40 Project pushes back by putting mature women in the spotlight, showing that beauty evolves, confidence deepens, and self-expression becomes even more meaningful with time.
Portrait studios such as Horizon Photography Photography in Evanston - and many others across the US and Europe - have created their own unique interpretations of this empowering movement.

Your 40 Over 40 Experience Includes:

Consultation
We will discuss all the details including wardrobe, hair & makeup, what to bring, how to prepare, and everything else you will need to know about your special day. You will have the chance to look through our studio wardrobe and choose any piece you would like to wear for your shoot.

Guided Studio
Photography Session
You are in good hands!
Jennifer will be directing you every step of the way so you won’t need to worry about a thing. Pose coaching and patience will bring out your best. You are amazing and no detail is too small to make this a perfect day for you.

Style Guide
Following our consultation, a custom-designed Style Guide will be created just for you, illustrating concepts to inspire your Portrait session. We look forward to hearing your ideas, and planning your dream Photoshoot with you hand-in-hand.

Reveal + Ordering Session
You will be invited back to the studio for your PREMIERE and design session a week after your photo shoot and I will present your gorgeous Portraits.
You will have you $1,000 credit to use as you purchase any portrait collection or wall art of your choice.
3.
Hair + Makeup
On the day of your session, you will be introduced to our professional hair & makeup artist. We will consult with you on how you wish to wear your hair and makeup. If you would like to do something outside of your comfort zone, we will be happy to make your vision a reality.
6.
Celebration Exhibition
Your experience will culminate in an Exhibition Party, where the photograph of your choosing will be displayed.
Your favorite Portrait will be hand-printed in Italy, transformed into a work of Fine Art, and featured alongside your story in our 40 Over 40 Celebration!
